G3 Intensive Seminar Syllabus 2011
This three-day rigorous training provides a framework for completely transforming the existing landscape paradigm to one of urban watershed restoration. Through lecture, group exercises, hands-on experiences, and collaborative discussion, participants are guided through the process of incorporating those changes into a professional practice. Intensive Seminar Participants include professionals involved in the planning, installation, regulation and maintenance of landscapes.
Participants in the Intensive Seminar learn how to calculate the site-specific information necessary to quantify the effects of unsustainable practices and are provided with the selling tools required to effectively communicate the sustainable solutions and eco-actions for shifting the landscape paradigm.
Participants successfully completing the G3 Intensive Seminar are eligible to sit for the G3 Sustainable Landscape Professional Certification Examination. The G3 Certification Exam tests the Participant’s ability to design sustainable landscapes with deep consideration for:
- Reducing the environmental impact of turf grass.
- Protecting, remediating, and restoring the biological function of soil.
- Designing and implementing water-efficient irrigation methods and climate-appropriate design.
- Grading residential properties for water harvesting.
- Valuing rainwater and graywater catchment and reuse systems.
- Restoring the urban watershed into a healthy, functioning wildlife and human habitat.
G3 is working with cities, water districts, non-profit organizations, policy makers, professional landscape designers, professional environmentalists, and the greater community of homeowners and commercial interests, to train and support a grass-roots army of sustainable landscape professionals devoted to working toward profound environmental change within their own communities.
