G3 was founded in 2008 by seven experienced landscape professionals who had been working together on the sustainability-oriented Green Gardens Tour (2004 – 2008).
Together the Founding Members secured education and design contracts with water agencies and cities, and developed the underlying concepts embodied in the G3 curriculum. Each of the Founding Members continues to support the sustainable principles of G3 through their private practices, and each is both a G3 Certified Professional and G3 Qualified Trainer.
Although six of the Founding Members are no longer active in the day-to-day management of the organization, they remain valuable allies in the professional landscape community.

G3′s daily operations are managed by Pamela Berstler, an educator, speaker, and sustainable exterior designer in her own right. Pamela is the 2012 President-Elect and Legislative Officer of the California Chapter of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, a member of CLCA’s Legislative Committee, and active in her community as a volunteer for environmental and workforce development organizations. Pamela also is an American Rain Water Catchment Systems Association (ARCSA) Accredited Professional and member of ASLA.
