First Day of Spring: What’s Up Ladies?

Spring is Here!  Spring is Here!  Everywhere in the California native garden, Nature is doing what comes naturally. Caught on film by garden paparazzi, these ladybugs (sometimes called ladybird beetles) are behaving, well, in a most un-lady-like manner on that Salvia mellifera (Black sage).  Lady bugs are not true bugs. According to About.com, “Entomologists prefer the name lady beetle, which accurately places these lovable insects in the order Coleoptera. Whatever you call them, these well-known insects belong to the family Coccinellidae.”  Hey, buddy, just remember to call me tomorrow, ok?
