Hands on Workshop: Garden Design Seminar: This workshop is taught in a classroom and allows students to interact with a small team to design a Watershed Wise landscape. The focus is on becoming confident enough with the design process to produce a simple, do-it-yourself, properly scaled Landscape Plan.

  • Review the Watershed Approach to landscaping as it applies to an actual landscape
  • Determine the dimensions of a passive rainwater capture area and place it on a plan
  • Select from a curated plant palette to create a working list of climate-appropriate plants
  • Group plants by hydrozones and microclimates
  • Apply key design principles to place plants on a plan using properly scaled paper cut-outs
  • Determine basic layout of irrigation for the proposed landscape
  • Suggested pre-requisites include: Watershed Wise Landscaping, and Turf Remove Replace or Maintain It (Organically)
