Hands on Workshop: Remove Lawn/Capture Rain: This workshop is taught in-field, and usually is the second workshop in a Landscape Transformation Series. Attendees learn how to remove lawn without chemicals, contour for rainwater capture, and build healthy living soil.
- Review lawn removal techniques, and provide hands-on experience using a sod cutter
- Identify opportunities for rainwater capture (contouring, rain barrels, cisterns)
- Re-direct downspouts into the landscape
- Demonstrate contouring the landscape for a raingarden including a swale (basin) and berms without removal or import of soil from the site
- Demonstrate sheet mulching (sheet composting) to build healthy living soil using a step-by-step process
- This workshop is targeted to Property-owners and Professionals
- Suggested pre-requisites include: Turf Remove Replace or Maintain It (Organically), Rainwater Capture, and Garden Design Workshop
